Learning coaching for children

Astrid Buscher

Dipl. Sports Economist, Z-Health Coach, certified instructor for the Dorothea Beigel® balance program, author and speaker, director of the Schlaukopf Institute for Systemic Learning

"We must give our children more freedom to explore independently, without shielding them from all challenges and difficulties. Because their own, diverse experiences are the fertilizer for healthy brain development."

At a time when ADHD, dyslexia, and reading difficulties were still "unknown," I struggled through school with some ups and downs. My dyslexia, which I "unfortunately" passed on to my sons, presented obstacles but also presented opportunities. Sports, with their diverse movement and sensory stimuli, were both a refuge and a salvation, and my learning difficulties formed the foundation for my current structured work and holistic thinking.

After a childhood and youth shaped by sports, I completed a brief stint in the banking world (training as a bank clerk) and graduated with a degree in sports economics from the University of Bayreuth. Since then, I have remained committed to sports and have found one of my main areas of work in the sensorimotor development of children, completing a variety of advanced training courses in this area.

I am a certified instructor for balance programs according to Dorothea Beigel®, an instructor of the preventative health program "PowerMoves" for fit kids, an instructor for the preschool program "Spielisch Fit," a Z-Health Movement Specialist for neurocentric training, and have over 25 years of experience in the international continuing education and training market. I am the mother of two now adult sons, the scientific director of Ludwig Artzt GmbH, and the author of various specialist books and articles on children. At my Schlaukopf Institute for Systemic Learning, I work daily with children with learning disabilities together with my partner, Gitte Lenz.

Movement has always been a central theme in my life, and with our first son's visual perception disorder and severe dyslexia, it presented me with new challenges. Together, we mastered them with flying colors. Since then, the topic of "learning disabilities and children" has captivated me even more, as I've seen the impact holistic support can have in this area.
