DHA is important for brain and vision – that's beyond question. But EPA is the precursor of E-series resolvins and therefore central to inflammation-regulating processes. Most vegan Omega 3 products are DHA-heavy because algae naturally provide more DHA. Our raw material is the first to enable a 2:1 ratio in favor of EPA – and the authorities have approved a daily dose of up to 1,000 mg of EPA for it.

In most cases, the answer here is clear – yes! ALA from plant-based supplements is only partially converted into EPA in the body, and only minimally into DHA. Depending on the source, conversion rates for EPA are usually in the single-digit percentage range, and for DHA often below 1–4%. Therefore, ALA alone often cannot optimally meet the body's EPA/DHA needs for heart, vascular, and brain functions. Anyone who wants to specifically raise their omega-3 index needs a direct EPA/DHA source – like algal oil.

No. The algal oil is fermented in closed stainless steel tanks. There is no contact with seawater, fish, or krill. The molecular distillation that fish oil manufacturers need to remove contaminants is simply not necessary here.

The omega-3 fatty acids are 100% derived from algae, and the capsule shell is made from tapioca starch gelatin. The product contains an enzyme of animal origin (from egg), and is therefore labeled as plant-based or vegetarian - not strictly vegan.

And production takes place entirely in Europe. Whoever buys the cheaper product usually buys a different formula - not the same one at a lower price.
